OKLAHOMA CITY- (KOKH) — A bill now heading to the Oklahoma Senate is trying to bring more regulation to wind turbines in the state.
“At the current time, 47% of the power generated or used when you flip your light switch on in the state of Oklahoma comes from a form of renewable energy, more specifically, heavy in the wind industry,” said Dustin Ratliff, lead wind technician at Thunder Ranch Wind Farm.
As wind energy grows in the Sooner State, so are calls for more regulation on it and other forms of renewable energy. State Representative Trey Caldwell, author of House Bill 2751, told FOX 25 there are concerns from people who don’t think there should be any setbacks or a minimum distance between a wind turbine and an area of concern from those who are in favor of them.
